Tour Bruce & Maryann’s warm and cosy Widney Manor home

Over a ten year period Bruce and Maryann have made energy efficiency improvements to their detached 1930s house in Solihull. They were early pioneers of internal wall insulation before it became widespread; and as a result they use less gas for their heating than you would typically expect for such a warm and cosy home.

At this small group visit you will learn, experience and have the opportunity to ask questions of the homeowners, Bruce and Maryann, about:

– How they installed and upgraded their solar thermal (hot water) and solar electricity panels
– Their unsuccessful attempts to install a heat pump, and why they decided to focus on reducing their gas use instead
– How internal wall insulation has made the house warmer and more energy efficient
– How they reduced draughts in their home to cut fuel costs
– Plus some very surprising results of a thermal imaging survey they had done.

This event will be of interest to:

– Householders who want to make their homes more energy efficient
– Housing and energy professionals
– Students with an interest in sustainability.

When you have registered you will receive a confirmation email, and joining instructions including address a few days before the event. There are several dates to choose from.
